Discover Tour Announced-RoatanPosted by Larry Schlesser in Roatan , retirement , real estate , Investment , Honduras , homes , Caribbean , Bay Islands , Baby Boomers |
-Timing is Everything!
Last summer I announced that Roatan Real Estate would start a new program, the “Discovery Investment Tour”. These are a great option for people who wonder if this island is the right place for them. People who are considering a vacation home, or maybe a retirement residence or maybe just for an investment. These tours are a very positive way for you to spend a great week on a tropical island, be part of a group of people who are also wondering if this is the place for them and have a complete package of
information and qualified experts to answer any question you may have. This type of tour has experts from all venues; an Attorney, Title Insurance Personnel, Ex-Pats who have made the move before you, an Accountant, and others. No pressure, no stress, just a great time on a tropical island for you to get every question answered.
HOW DO WE SPEND OUR TIME IN PÁTZCUARO?
A New Boomer Member recently sent me a message saying that she and her husband were looking for a retirement place in Latin America and asked if I could share our daily experience living in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. She asked, “Is the assimilation difficult? How important is the language? How are the locals treating you? What is the price of the real estate? How much on average does it take to live there a month? Sorry for this many questions, we cannot find any sources yet to have a good objective overview of living in Mexico.” I answered her with an email, but it seems to me that many people, who have not yet made the move to overseas living, probably have the same or similar questions. So, I would like to share the comments I sent in my email to the New Member.
Mexican Presidency published last week a good news for all the residents of the State of Guanajuato where San Miguel de Allende is located, a popular city for Americans and Canadians to retire.
Mexico's Health Care is a mix of several options any Mexican or person living or visiting in Mexico has to take care of his/her health by a constitutional mandate.

Moving to a new country is not easy but new technologies like Social Media, Online Communities & Social Networks, like Boomers Abroad, can make this transition much smoother. It is impressive to be able to break distances and time. It is great to be able to make your homework from your home before you travel. It is outstanding to make friends and contact people that already live where you want to move.
Online social communities have begun popping up all over the internet. As an expatriate, these type of Social Networks can be an incredible resource as you transition to your new country. Whether you are looking for Information, education, alternatives, meet new friends, locate old ones, or gain professional contacts, you are bound to find the people you are looking for online. If you haven't yet relocated to your new country yet, now is a great time to join these type of online communites. Create a profile and begin adding friends. As your network expands, you may find that your current friends already have contacts in your new country. They could introduce you, and then you would already have acquaintances there when you arrive. Already living in your new country? These type of social communities also have groups you can join to meet others with a similar interest.

The music venue in a cow pasture in New York state that defined a decade, Woodstock, turns 40 years old this weekend. Approximately a half million mostly young, college-age people attended the 32 act music festival. Greats like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, CCR entertained the rain and mud covered, ‘hazy’ revelers. The event lasted 3 days, even longer for those who had to figure out where they were.

Boomers in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta real estate, Mexico real estate, retire in Mexico, Baby Boomers, International Living
By Jim Scherrer,
Let’s start out by assuming that you’re a pretty savvy investor; your 401k, IRA, or personal investments have kept up with the S&P 500 average during the past ten years and you’ve lost only about 35% of your life’s savings! Did you realize that the Mexican Exchange Traded Fund (EWW) which represents the Mexican stock market, even though it was annihilated during the current recession along with all other markets throughout the world (but is recovering rapidly), has advanced by 200% during the same time frame? In other words, $100 invested in the S&P 500 in 1999 would now be worth $65, whereas if it were invested in the Mexican EWW fund it would now be worth $200. Please refer to the ten year graph in order to see the comparisons between these two areas of investment and perhaps you can speculate as to where might be the best market to place your next bet!
Panama is the ideal place for relaxation and pleasure, with pristine beaches and beautiful scenery. And there are many reasons why travelers choose Panama as a tourist and retirement destination.
Affordable Living
One thing that makes Panama attractive to foreigners is the low cost of living. For rental or purchase of property, Panama offers many attractive living quarters at very affordable rates. The Colon Free Trade Zone in Panama is the largest distribution center in South America and as a result, products sold there generally have very low costs and are subject to an average inflation of just 1% to 2% annually.

Fifty years ago, before John Huston brought Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Deborah Kerr to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to film “The Night of The Iguana”, Vallarta was merely a sleepy little Mexican fishing village nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Madres along the shores of Banderas Bay on the Pacific Ocean. Although the population at that time was only a few thousand friendly natives, the magnificent climate and incredible scenery was so inviting that Richard Burton and Liz Taylor fell in love with the village (and each other!) and bought a couple of “getaway” homes on the hillside overlooking the city.
